Colin and Uluru just before Sunset

Carol and Uluru just before Sunset

Sunset

The magnificent Uluru

Sunset at Uluru
Words cannot explain Sunset at Uluru.   Everyone left the resort on mass in buses, cars and motor homes to view Sunset.  The different colours on the rock as the sun went down were amazing. See the pictures attached. The National parks have the area very well structured / organised to keep the area preserved and natural.  There are limited places you can pull off the road only formed car parks and you are not allowed to walk on the vegetation only keep to formed pathways which are tastefully done to keep in with the landscape.  The cultural centre blends in with the environment very well and you are not allowed to photograph it.  In actual fact there are lots of parts of the rock that you are not allowed to photograph because of spiritual significance. They cater for some many tourists here they have to keep the rules rigid, therefore you are forced to either camp at the resort or further back 84 km at Curtin Springs Cattle Station or there are 3 road spots along the way. The resort I think is very tastefully done as it caters for all incomes and blends pretty well with the surroundings and customers needs, from 5 star to us caravaner’s and campers however I wouldn’t want to tent it up here this time of the year its 31 in the van and the air con has been running since last night! Maybe winter would be ok though. The resort has medical centre, fire station, police station, lots of different places to eat and accommodation, pubs, swimming pools, supermarket, ANZ bank, and a couple of shops.  It seems the whole town is inside the resort.  There is a village for the true aboriginal people nearby but there is no signing to say where that is; they ask that we respect their privacy, so I think they keep that well hidden.  I have only sighted one aboriginal here at that was at the cultural centre, an older lady (a true blue one)
One young girl in the supermarket told me she had been here a month with her boyfriend, he was going to do a 2 year apprenticeship here and she was going to attend university here, I am not sure where it is but I think she meant in the resort somewhere.  I could easily pull up stumps (in the winter) and do a few months here working it would be so, so peaceful and I think the money is pretty good.
Stay tuned for Sunrise and Base walk next blog.
