The Breakaways

Hi there friends and family.
Tonight we went on an adventure to visit the Dingo Fence and Breakaways.
The Breakaways are one of South Australia's Outback gems. They're a striking rocky landscape of flat-topped mesas. The Aborigines have a lot of history here and we are asked not to walk on or climb them.
The Breakaways were once covered by an inland sea. They are now home to an array of native fauna and flora. It's approximately 33 kilometres north of Coober Pedy.
The best time to see the awesome Breakaways is sunset, when you can appreciate the amazing sandstone colours. This is the time we chose to go to see them.  The scenery was truly breath taking! The dingo fence was also along this route.  The fence was built to keep Dingoes out of the southern side of Australia and it stretches over 3 States, Qld, SA and NSW it is 6,300 km long. Every property owner who backs on to this fence must employ at least one man to maintain the fence, which is a very boring job  as they have to inspect and fix this fence daily so the dingoes don't get through. The Breakaway certainally was one of the highlights of our trip.
We have spoken to Daniel and Dianne today, it looks like they may be at least a week away from having the car back on the road so we have to hit the road without them.  We are very disappointed and worried to be leaving them behind.  We will catch up with them in Darwin.  Tomorrow morning we will hit the road again heading for Uluru and Kings Canyon.  I am I excited!! Still devisated about the state of Qld, each time I check the news more of my customers towns have been flooded.  It makes me wonder where it is all going to end. See some pics below.
